The Religious of Jesus and Mary manage St. Margaret's Training College, Byculla, founded in 1894. The College aims at imparting a sound formation for the development of the entire personality of teacher trainees. Hence their training is directed towards the Intellectual (IQ), Spiritual & Moral (SQ & MQ), Emotional (EQ), Physical (PQ) and Aesthetic and Cultural (AC/Q) aspects suitable for a teacher.

Admission is open primarily to Catholics but due consideration is also given to all young persons, irrespective of caste or creed.

State Government: The Government of Maharashtra recognizes the Course. (Secondary School Code, Appendix Twenty-Five, no. 4).

The students passing the TTC examination are eligible to apply as Assistant Teachers ( Shikshan Sevak) Primary Teachers in English Medium Schools in Maharashtra vide letter No. TCM/1095/ (170/95) Mashi – 4 dated 17 th Jan 2003.

NCTE: - Dated: 30 September 2002. The National Council For Teacher Education ( NCTE ) New Delhi , recognizes it vide letter No. WRC/ 5-6/ 40/ 2002/ 06036.
